On May 8, 2024, Professor Dylan Kosma from the University of Nevada, USA, presented a seminar on the biosynthesis of plant lipids, as part of the CEF/CEABN seminars.
The title of the presentation was “Specialised lipid metabolism: understanding the biosynthesis and transcriptional regulation of protective plant-lipid derived natural products”. Professor Dylan‘s research work is relevant to understanding how plants produce macromolecular lipids in their outer tissues with protective and insulating functions in relation to the environment and its variations. This knowledge has implications for agricultural and forestry areas, such as the conservation of potatoes after harvest or the formation of cork.
Professor Dylan is currently doing his sabbatical at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia with Professor José Graça, in a co-operation project that is part of the CEF’s activities.
