The next CEF/CEABN Seminar – Specialized lipid metabolism: understanding the biosynthesis and transcriptional regulation of protective plant lipid-derived natural products – will take place on 8 May, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, in the Salão Nobre of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia.
This edition of the CEF/CEABN Seminars will feature a presentation by Dylan Kosma, Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Nevada (USA), who will discuss the biochemical processes involved in the synthesis, degradation and regulation of lipids in plant cells.
The focus of Professor Dylan Kosma‘s research work is on understanding how plants synthesize a variety of natural products but with a primary focus on the biopolymers cutin and suberin. His lab uses a multidisciplinary approach combining biochemistry, analytical techniques and molecular genetics to comprehend the macromolecular structure and functional significance of these polymers with an emphasis on their role in plant tolerance to abiotic stress.
