We are very happy that the book ‘Biological control of insect pests in plantation forests’ is now published! Thank you to Prof. Manuela Branco and the PhD student Catarina Afonso, whom authored 2 chapters with their amazing contributions.
This is the first book with a specific focus on biological control of insect pests in plantation forests. It reviews the general principles of and considerations for the use of biological control for forest insect pests, including policies, traits for selection of natural enemies, genetic diversity, ecological interactions, and methods for rearing the selected agents. The book also reviews the use of biocontrol for all the major groups of insect pests, and includes authors from all six continents where forest plantations occur, providing a truly global perspective on the current status as well as the challenges and opportunities for biological control.
