The RipCarbon project aims to contribute to the economic enhancement of Ecosystem Services provided by riparian systems.

It is a CEF-funded project that resulted from a collaboration between researchers from the ForProtect and ForEco groups and had The Navigator Company as an informal partner.

The project was developed to quantify the carbon stocks of riparian forests located in the Mediterranean climate region. These carbon estimates were obtained through models development that relates biomass data collected in the field, with variables obtained remotely, using drones.

Remote sensing techniques applied to multispectral drone images allowed to classify and estimate carbon stocks, depending on the dominant species, throughout the study area.

The video shows the state-of-the-art technology used to carry out field and remote work and the main results obtained.
