CASTANEA

The chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) represents about 1.5% of the forest area in Portugal (ICNF 2016) but with an high economic relevance at the regional level in the country’s interior North. CASTANEA model, based on the growth model for the chestnut tree developed with data of young stands in the north of the country (Patrício 2006) was integrated in StandsSIM.Md with the master’s work of Filipe (2019).

The CASTANEA model is an empirical model of the individual tree adjusted to pure planted chestnut even stands (StandsSIM.md, by functionality adaptation, also allows running simulations with new stands (yield table) and uneven existing stands).
