Professor Carlos Manuel Leitão Baeta Neves (1916-1992)

Forester, professor, scientist and divulger, Baeta Neves was one of the country's leading lights in the Forestry and Nature Conservation domains. He published near 200 scientific works, and near 850 of divulgation character, disseminating knowledge in such diverse areas as Forestry Teaching and Research, Entomology, Conservation of Stored Products, Aquiculture, Game Management, Landscape Architecture, Heritage Conservation, Forestry History and Nature Conservation.

Some highlights from his extense bibliography are: Introdução à Entomologia Florestal Portuguesa (1950); A Protecção da Natureza (1956 e 1972-2ª ed.); A Natureza e a Humanidade em Perigo, volume I e II (1970), volume III (1972).

He was also one of the founders (in 1948) and emblematic member of Liga para a Protecção da Natureza.
