Until January 30 is taking place the work of requalification of the fossil cliff in the Geosite of Telheiro (Costa Vicentina). This project aims to restore vegetation cover in order to protect this cliff and ensure the preservation of this environmental heritage.

This project combines techniques of Soil Bioengineering, by our collaborator Carlo Bifulco with the support of Alberto Pietrogrande, with the local knowledge, through the collaboration of the of Vila do Bispo Municipality technicians, Cláudio Machado and Jorge Galvão.

The Vila do Bispo Municipality is funding the implementation of this project with the support of the “Proteger Telheiro” Group, the "ROCHA" Association, GEOTA, the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) with the approval of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of Alentejo (CCDR) and the Institute of Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF).

The cliff of the Telheiro beach is one of the most important geological and ecological sites in Portugal, classified by the Sagres Biogenetic Reserve, which gives it a high protection status. The project to requalify the access to the Telheiro beach (Sagres) is a project that in addition to the use of Soil Bioengineering techniques also includes the active participation of citizens in the conservation and management of the territory.

We invite all citizens to participate through the following e-mail (proteger.telheiro@gmail.com) or form (available here).
