CEABN Sinergias is back on September 17, Friday, 11:30. We'll celebrate the work of our former Master's student Edoardo Esposito. Edoardo has recently defended his thesis at Wageningen University, Netherlands.
Cork oak montado has been declining in the Mediterranean since the 1980s, raising socio-economic and ecological concerns. The relative importance of the drivers of Cork oak death is unclear.
Edoardo showed that mortality is higher in dry areas of shallow, degraded soils. Surprisingly, Phytophthora spp. did not stand out among the causes of cork oak mortality. We'll understand why.
