Filipe Dias has a PhD in Forestry and Natural Resources from Instituto Superior de Agronomia of the University of Lisbon and a Master's degree in Conservation Biology from the Faculty of Sciencies of the University of Lisbon. He is also a consultant for the Mediterranean Programme of WWF in Portugal (www.wwf.pt) in the areas of biodiversity and ecosystem services. He is also the coordinator of the HABEaS Project (www.habeas-med.org).His main research interests are ecology and conservation of forest ecosystems and the study and analysis of alternative conservation mechanisms such as Forest Certification and Payments for Ecosystem services.
